How the Sugar Calculation Works

The math is straightforward. First, all volumes are converted to fluid ounces:

  • Milliliters → fl oz: multiply by 0.033814
  • Liters → fl oz: multiply by 33.814
  • Cups → fl oz: multiply by 8
  • 12 oz cans → fl oz: multiply by 12

Then we apply:

Total sugar (g) = (grams of sugar per 12 fl oz ÷ 12) × total volume in fl oz
